Choosing a Doctor

Taking the time to research and chose carefully a reliable physician can have a significant effect on your health as well as your health savings account.  A good doctor will get to know you and your family well enough to make a quick but thorough diagnosis and get you back on track to good health sooner.

The best way to start looking for a new doctor is to ask local friends and family members for referrals.   If you are new to an area, you might want to try the local pharmacies.  Just ask the pharmacist "If you just moved to town who would you chose for your family physician?."  Once you have a handful of recommendations you can start your research.

Check the doctor's record .

You can check the doctor's record by going either to your own insurance company's web site or state medical board.

www.docboard.org will link you to many state board sites.

Credentials and complete reports on physicians can also be purchased at

Interview the doctor and his office.
