Staying Healthy

The most important thing you can do to save money on Health Expenses is to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.  The new US government guidelines suggest 60 to 90 minutes of exercise a day, particularly if you're trying to lose weight.  This can be broken down into 10-15 minute intervals. For information on how to exercise go to

Eat a variety of healthy food. The US government has come out with new dietary guidelines for 2005.  They recommend people eat two cups of fruit, two and a half cups of vegetables and three ounces of whole grains every day.  They also encouage people to have three cups of non-fat or low-fat milk or the equivelent dairy products everyday. Less than ten percent of calories should come from saturated fat.  Women should consume only one alcoholic drink per day and men only two.To see the complete guidelines go to

If your diet is lacking you might consider taking a multiple vitamin supplement.

Sleep an average of eight hours a night.

Some people can get by with less, but most

americans including children are getting less

sleep than they need. Studies have even linked a
